Ramadan Charity: Gov. Ododo’s Chief of Staff Provides Iftar Meals for Muslims in Kogi Central

In the spirit of Ramadan and as part of sustained humanitarian efforts, the Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Alhaji Ali Bello, has provided daily iftar meals to about 700 Muslim faithful observing the fast in Kogi Central.

The outreach, which marks the second phase of his annual Ramadan iftar programme, involves the distribution of iftar meals to Muslims participating in this year’s fasting period.

A source present at one of the mosques where the meals were distributed said a similar gesture was carried out last year and was also sponsored by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ali Bello.

According to the source, the Chief of Staff prefers to keep the initiative low-profile.

“The Chief of Staff does not want publicity for this Ramadan charity. Aside from this initiative, we have also observed that he has been empowering youths, women and the less privileged quietly, without seeking media attention.

“But it is important that we appreciate his gesture. This act emphasises the importance of love, compassion and peaceful coexistence,” the source said.

The source added that Ramadan remains a sacred period that calls for generosity, sacrifice and deeper reflection.

“Ramadan is a time to show love, compassion and extend a helping hand to those in need. It is a season that teaches sacrifice, self-discipline and gratitude to Almighty Allah. We must use this opportunity to strengthen the bonds of unity among us,” the source stated.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.

“This support has eased the burden on many families during this fasting period. We are truly grateful for the thoughtfulness and generosity,” one beneficiary said.

Another recipient noted that the initiative went beyond the provision of food.

“Beyond the meals, this gathering has strengthened our sense of community and reminded us of the true essence of Ramadan,” the beneficiary added.

The outreach is expected to continue in other parts of the state and may also be extended to people of other faiths as part of ongoing efforts to promote charity, unity and spiritual devotion.
