Scoop: Arenyeka may become first Deltan to transit from PDP state chairman to APC Chair

Strong indications have emerged that the immediate past substantive Delta State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, may succeed Elder Omeni Sobotie as Delta State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC.

Though feelers were still sketchy as at the time of this report, it was gathered from Credible Sources that Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside prominent leaders of the APC in the state, may have agreed to micro-zone the party chairmanship to Delta South, with Chief Solomon Arenyeka rumoured to be the governor’s anointed choice.

Itsekiri leaders in the All Progressives Congress, APC, had on Sunday December 14, 2025, resolved to push for the party's chairmanship position in Delta State, ahead of the congress now fixed for Tuesday March 3.

The Itsekiri leaders, including Chief Solomon Areyinka, reached the resolution during a meeting held in Warri, Delta State.

Meanwhile, a statement issued Saturday March 1, by the Delta State Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., had invited statutory delegates, critical stakeholders and party leaders to the State Congress taking place at the Cenotaph Along High Court, Road, Asaba, by 10.00am Tuesday March 3.

The statement, is in-line with the constitution and the guidelines for the conduct of nationwide congresses, as approved by the National Working Committee of APC and the State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress.
