Members of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, VWKWI, have applauded Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, over the company's reported commitment not to drop workers from the host communities, particularly Itsekiris on the guise of lack/ inadequate accommodation.
President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Mene, who gave the commendation Monday March 16 in a widely circulated clip, featuring members of the group, called on the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, to provide accommodation for Itsekiris working in the company's construction sites, hinging her arguments on safety concerns.
According to her, it was unsafe for workers of the host communities to be travelling daily from Sapele and other neighbouring towns to the company's office in Warri.
She reiterated her previous calls for Chevron Nigeria Limited to operate " open camp" saying the 90 - day ultimatum the group gave the company, has elapsed.
" They should keep to their promise not to drop anybody involved in the accommodation challenge, their salaries should be regular, till the construction project is over," the group, stressed.
