Former two-time Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, has tendered his resignation as the Executive Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board.

Fresh Angle International can report that Hon. Edema’s resignation, sets the stage for a titanic battle with Dr. Augustine Uroye, as to who will get the All Progressives Congress ticket for Warri South Constituency I in the incoming party primary.

Dr. Augustine Uroye, who is running his second term as member of Delta State House of Assembly, was Secretary to Warri South Local Government during Hon. Edema’s first term as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area.

In his resignation letter dated Monday March 30, Hon. Edema appreciated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori “for the great honour and privilege to serve and contribute to the growth and development of your administration and the great people of Delta State.”

The former Warri South Local Government Boss, explained that his decision to resign as Chairman of Delta State Waste Management Board, was made “in compliance with the provisions of the newly enacted Electoral Act 2026, which requires holders of executive positions, including political appointees and political office holders, to resign their appointment before contesting in elections.”

As at the time of this report, it was unclear if Dr. Uroye would vie for the Warri South Constituency I seat for the third time, but the contest to get APC ticket and ultimately win the Warri South Constituency I seat in the 2027 elections, is likely to be more intense.
