The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Christians and church leadership in Nigeria to constantly pray for those in government to do their best in the governance of the country.
The Governor, ably represented by the Executive Director Projects, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu made the call Friday April 10, at the inauguration of the 7th National President and Executive Members of the Christ Gospel Church of Nigeria Incorporated, Orerokpe, the headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
Congratulating the newly inaugurated President, Rev. Dr. Abraham Ohwotuemuho Esq., and other Executive members, Dr. Okorodudu urged them to constantly bring the body of Christ together and pray for those in government.
"Your prayers for His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and all government officials will guide them in the discharge of their duties. Also pray to God to guide you in your new leadership positions," he said.
Speaking further, he said His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori the Governor of Delta State is interested in the well being and growth of the members and the church, stating that
all their requests and demands shall be attended to in due course.
Earlier, the former President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor, OFR, who was the Guest Speaker/Inaugurator, titled his message, "The Spirit on the anointed One" had congratulated the President and Executive Members of the Christ Gospel Church of Nigeria Incorporated and prayed for the success of their new leadership in the church.
Papa Oritsejafor also prayed for the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the country in general.
Responding, the newly inaugurated President, Rev. Dr. Abraham Esq. thanked the Governor for sending representatives and pledging to bear initiatives that will bring positive changes and vision to the church.
"I shall lead the church from this point to where God desires the Church to be," he said.
Speaking further, he said some initiatives shall be introduced to train the Church members, expand membership and the welfare of the faithful especially as the Church cannot be where it will be without the welfare of the leaders and the faithful alike.
Some of those in attendance included Bishop Dr. Abos Willie, PFN, Chairman, Delta State; Rev. James Sanubi, General Secretary; Rev. Dr. Johnson Imen, JP, National vice president; Rev. Peter Essi, Asst. Gen. Sec. and Engr Mathew Onokpasa, SA to the EDP amongst others.
