The Ero and Omuigbo Family of Ogorode in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, have alleged that Senator Edeh Dafinone’s purported fraternity with the likes of Obomine Judah and William Onofuevure, encouraged the duo to launch a recent vicious attack on members of Ero and Umuigbo family, hinging their argument on “the fact that they were aided by Officers of the Delta State Operation Delta Sweep.”

The Trust Secretary of Ogorode Community, Esidamire Eric Ikomi, who made the allegation on behalf of the leadership of Ogorode, Tuesday April 14, while addressing newsmen at Ogorode in Sapele Local Government Area, alleged that on Wednesday April  8, a mob of Sapele/Okpe youths, led by Obomine Judah and William Onofuevure, stormed Ogorode and gruesomely attacked members of Ero & Omuigbo family of Ogorode, who were going about their normal daily activities.

According to him, the alleged perpetuators of the dastardly act, came into Ogorode fully armed and were aided by officers of the Operation Delta Sweep.

Ikomi, told newsmen that victims of the violent attack, allegedly carried out by members of the Sapele/Okpe Community, were inflicted with severe and life-threatening injuries, adding that the victims were presently under critical condition and battling for survival in the hospital as at the time of this report.

Below is the full text of the statement read by Esidamire Eric Ikomi:

Good day ladies and gentlemen, members of the press, distinguished and well-meaning Nigerians!

We the members of Ero and Omuigbo Family of Ogorode in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, hereby use this medium to bring to the attention of the President and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori, the Senate President, the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, the Olu of Warri, the Orodje of Okpe and the general public, information regarding a recent incident which occurred in Ogorode in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Alleged On Wednesday the 8th day of April, 2026, a mob of Sapele/Okpe youths led by Obomine Judah and William Onofuevure, stormed Ogorode and gruesomely attacked members of Ero & Omuigbo family of Ogorode, who were going about their normal daily activities. The perpetuators of this dastardly act came into Ogorode fully armed and were aided by officers of the Operation Delta Sweep.

The victims of this violent attack carried out by members of the Sapele/Okpe Community, were inflicted with severe and life-threatening injuries. They are presently under critical condition and battling for survival in the hospital.

Sources, have revealed that the attack on members of Ero & Omiugbo family by the Sapele/Okpe Community youths, led by Obomine Judah and William Onofuevure on April 8, 2026, borders on Ero and Umuigbo family land in Ogorode. For some time now, members of Sapele/Okpe Community have been laying claim to Ero & Omuigbo family land in Ogorode, having sold their entire land in Sapele. Members of Sapele/Okpe Community have done everything within their powers to forcefully deprive us ownership of our Ogorode land but to no avail. This recent attack on members of Ero & Omuigbo family by members of Sapele/Okpe Community is orchestrated to intimidate and to compel us to part with our land.

Those behind this unholy incident in Ogorode are neither indigene of Ogorode, nor do they reside in Ogorode. As a matter of fact, Obomine Judah, who is the Sapele/Okpe youth president, resides in his country home at Olympia by Abeke Road in Sapele Town.

You will recall that recently, members of the Ero and Omuigbo family of Ogorode, released a press statement over a similar issue which took place in Ogorode, on 25th February 2026, whereby these same Sapele/Okpe Community youths came to Ogorode with an intention to cause mayhem, but unfortunately clashed with a rival group who tailed them from Sapele and in the process, several vehicles were damaged.

Permit me to reiterate that we the indigenes of Ogorode are peace loving people and law-abiding citizen of Nigeria. Ogorode in Sapele Local Government Area is our home and we have enjoyed relative peace and security overtime. Also, the general public must be aware that the only family in the whole of Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State with an ancestral heritage in Ogorode is the Ero and Omiugbo family, that is because, our ancestors were the first to settle in Ogorode in the year 1830. Only Ero and Omiugbo family has notable fixtures such as grave sites, family settlements, community halls etc., in the whole of Ogorode.

We the indigenous people of Ogorode Community may be peace loving people, but we are not cowards. We therefore, condemn the attack on Ero & Omuigbo family by members of the Sapele/Okpe Community on April 8, 2026, at Ogorode and call on the law enforcement agencies to investigate and bring to justice the culprits behind the attack.

We remain law abiding citizen of this great nation. We will shun any act of violence and will not resort to self-help and jungle justice like those miscreants and nonentities who parade themselves as Sapele/Okpe Community youth, even though our youths are able and ready to withstand those sycophants. We are civilized people and refuse to engage in violence like our counterparts of Sapele/Okpe descent.

Let it be known that we have had enough of this Sapele/Okpe youth and unless the government and the law enforcement agencies intervene in this matter, any further attempt by the Sapele/Okpe Community indigenes to attack members of Ero & Omiugbo family and or indigenes of Ogorode, we shall not be left with no option but to defend ourselves.

Furthermore, we want to remind our distinguished senator, Senator Edeh Dafinone, the senator representing the good people of Delta Central Senatorial District at the upper chambers that although you are of Okpe descent, but your representation at the senate is for both the Okpes and the Itsekiris in Delta central.

Sir, you may not be aware that your publication concerning Ogorode land generated serious controversies before it was deleted from the media space. We are mindful of the fact that your so-called publication is born out of the fact that your attempt to renew the lease that was wrongly executed by your late father in time past was unsuccessful.

It is a notorious fact that the likes of Obomine Judah and William Onofuevure, you are fraternizing with because of Ero & Omuigbo family land in Ogorode are people with questionable characters. Your support has encouraged them in the recent attack on members of Ero and Umuigbo family couple with the fact that they were aided by officers of the Delta State Operation Delta Sweep. Their belief is that they are pursuing a common goal with you.

Senator sir, as members of your senatorial district, we are strongly of the opinion that you concentrate on your senatorial responsibilities, transparent representation of your constituents and forget about Ero & Omuigbo family land in Ogorode.

To Sapele Aproko, Wado City Aproko and other related social media platforms, we implore you to properly investigate before posting your contents on social media and desist from posting contents that are capable of degenerating into communal crises.

We therefore recommend the general public to view the trending videos on social media platforms and see the shameful and barbaric behaviour of members of Sapele/Okpe Community and the officers of the Delta State Operation Delta Sweep for your personal consumption.

Rather than members of Sapele/Okpe Community resorting to civil action, they have decided to attack members of Ero & Omuigbo family. Their actions portray them as desperate land grabbers and do not own any land in Ogorode.

We are the rightful owners of Ogorode and will use every force reasonable to defend ourselves and properties.

In respect of the alleged adoption of our Local Government Chairman, Hon. Bright Abeke that is making waves on the internet. Let it be known that although we may not have hailed from the same community, he is our leader and we condemn the actions of those behind it. The alleged adoption of the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State may be coincidental with the present happening in Ogorode, but it is absolutely not related to it. Ero & Omiugbo family of Ogorode will never condescend to that level. To our security personnel, we commend your quick response but urge you to embark on transparent and thorough investigation as we pray for his safe release.

The actions of the members of Sapele/Okpe Community are oppressive and we can no longer tolerate them. We therefore, call on the Federal Government, the State Government, the respective security agencies, well-meaning Nigerians and the Olu of Warri to intervene in this matter before it will escalate beyond control.

Thank you and God bless.
