Of Engr. Kessington Mayiwa Urunden No Praise Is Adequate

Nicolo Machiavelli took more than 400 years after his death to earn a mark of greatness, but here comes an Okogho -born, Abigborodo veteran in selfless development who earned his greatness while still much alive.

Geniuses in a generation like ours are not easy to find. Now that we have found one in our midst, we should accord him life-enhancing appreciation and encouragement, particularly as he continues to make an impact in the lives of men.

Little wonder Ralf Waldo Emerson was right when he said "There is probably no history but, "biographies" Engr. Kessington Mayiwa Urunden, is reputed to possess a sense of honesty and rectitude that many others are destitute of.

He is one among the most celebrated, accessible, popular, and one who wields a good grassroots followership and prowess, due to his passion for community development and his extension of the environmental sustainability policy of the state government to his hometown, Okogho community in Abigborodo ward, Warri North LGA, Delta State.

In a society where unemployment has become one of the greatest human challenges, this Okogho-born veteran in development, has personally provided over 30 direct and indirect employment opportunities to his people. He has, at various times, brought succour to his people in fulfilment of his passion for meeting the needs of the vulnerable in society.

Having given a good account of himself as a Mechanical Engineer, he has moved beyond professional impact to community development. A Core-certified engineer and member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he is also a project management consultant, a supply chain management consultant, community mobilization consultant, member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, and an employment consultant.

It is unprecedented for Engr. Kessington Mayiwa Urunden to serve in various offices and organizations with his integrity still intact, in an era where everyone is compromising and selling their principles and dignity for a price. This is the kind of leadership that society craves for: leaders who feel others from their pockets.

In his famous book, The Republic, Plato painted a graphic picture of the kind of person to be trusted with political power, because political power is like a sacred fire which only circumcised hands can handle. He also wrote on who has the capacity to move a polity forward to a glorious height of socio-economic development.

Such an individual, Plato said, must be no other than Engr. Kessington Mayiwa Urunden, with his uncommon wisdom, visionary insight, and knowledge acquired through learning. Such a man, Aristotle and Plato described as the philosopher king.

Today, Okogho community in Abigborodo, Warri North LGA, Delta State, is among communities still parades one of the most respectful technocrats as a philosopher king. It behooves all of us to celebrate our own veteran in human capital development, who has made impacts in the lives of women and youths in his desire to heal all that ails his people.

The brief video clips below, which I dive into yesterday, now trending speak volumes about the simple and communal lifestyle of this Okogho-born Kessington Meyiwa Urunden.
