The Senator Representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, his major contender, Hon. Michael Diden and others aspiring to clinch the All Progressives Congress ticket for Delta South, will know their fate come Wednesday May 20, 2026, Fresh Angle International can report.
This is consequent upon schedule of activities and timetable for the 2027 general elections released Monday April 20.
According to the schedule signed by the National Organizing Secretary of APC, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms for the position of Senate, would cost three million naira (N3,000.000.00) and seventeen million naira, respectively, totalling twenty million naira (N20,000,000.00) per aspirant.
The party, noted that election appeal committees for senatorial positions, will sit Thursday May 21, to consider outcome of the primary fixed for Wednesday May 20.
The Member Representing Warri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Chief (Dr.) Thomas Ereyitomi, alongside his fellow aspirants to the constituency seat, including Capt. David Omatseye, will face their primary on Monday May 18 and potentially appear before the election appeal committee Wednesday May 20.
The second -term Member Representing Warri South Constituency I in Delta State House of Assembly, Dr. Augustine Uroye, other contenders for the seat such as Hon. Mofe Edema and Dr. Michael Merogun as well as the Member Representing Warri South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Chief Benson Obire and his fellow contenders; Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, Hon. Romeo Ogedegbe, Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi and others, will confront themselves in the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly Primary slated for Thursday May 21.
The appeal committee for the House of Assembly primary, will sit Saturday May 23, to consider petitions that may arise from the primary.
While the House of Representatives aspirants are to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms for one million naira (N1,000,000.00) and nine million naira (N9,000,000.00) respectively, the House of Assembly hopefuls, will pay one million naira (N1,000,000.00) and five million naira (N5,000,000.00) correspondingly, for the expression of interest and nomination forms.
Though the National Leadership of the party, was silent on whether or not the mode of primary will be direct or consensus, it’s stated: “Female aspirants, youths and physically challenged aspirants are to pay for the Expression of Interest and 50% of the prescribed Nomination fees are for each position”.
