The Kogi East Neighborhood Watch (KENW), a community policing non-governmental organisation, has commended the lawmaker representing Omala State Constituency, Hon. Umar Yahaya, for the completion and inauguration of a police station in Ibado-Akpacha, aimed at strengthening security in the area.
In a letter of commendation jointly signed by its Chairman, Omakoji Oyiguh, and Secretary, Isaac Inah, the group noted that the legislator has distinguished himself through a clear understanding of the constitutional responsibilities of political leadership, particularly in the area of safeguarding lives and property.
According to the letter, “You stand out among many politicians as one who understands the provision of Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution, which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the organisation further praised the lawmaker’s commitment to grassroots security, describing the newly inaugurated police station as a timely intervention.
“Without security, there can be no meaningful peace or development. Your investment in this police facility has not only enhanced community policing efforts but has also reassured residents of their safety,” the statement added.
KENW also highlighted the importance of collaboration between elected officials and community-based security outfits in tackling crime at the local level.
“This project reflects your passion for the wellbeing of your constituents and your proactive approach to addressing security challenges. It is a clear demonstration that responsive leadership can make a tangible difference in people’s lives,” the group stated.
The organisation offered prayers for the continued success of the lawmaker, urging other public office holders to emulate his example.
“We pray that God rewards your commitment to service and grants you the wisdom to continue delivering impactful leadership. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and they serve as a model for others in public office,” the letter concluded.
