The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, has identified financial demands, security, power supply, accreditation, staffing and infrastructure maintenance as challenges confronting the state-owned institution.
Prof. Asagba, also disclosed that the school has improved efficiency and reduced malpractice such as transcript racketeering, through the upgrade of CBT centres, with DELSU having over 1,000 modern computers across its campuses.
Our Co-Publisher/Managing Editor, reports that the university don, made the disclosures at DELSU main campus, Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Tuesday April 28, during a media briefing held ahead of the forthcoming convocation ceremony of the school.

Whilst highlighting the strong national and competitive positioning of DELSU, after emerging best state university in Nigeria, best in South-East and South-South regions as well as 12th overall in the country in the year 2025, Prof. Asagba, mentioned the establishment of environmental sciences, computer sciences and allied health sciences as strategic efforts aimed at academic expansion of the school.
The VC, who stated that DELSU was aligning with global trends and equipping students with future-ready skills, said strategic access road within the institution was completed within six weeks, with 500-seater lecture theatre ongoing and construction of faculty of Agriculture complex progressing.
According to him, renovation of lecture halls, labs, offices and repurposing of old library ? Senate Services, are at advance stages, while High-speed fibre-optic internet has been installed across the school campus.
Prof. Asagba, revealed that DELSU is in partnership with institutions in South Africa, Canada, China and United States in a bid to expand the academic frontiers of the school, just as he disclosed plans to develop modern sport complex in DELSU.
