Warri: Allow aspirants test their popularity in Warri South Constituencies I, II – Councillor pleads with APC leadership
Hon. Eghere Udumetotor

The Councillor representing Ogunu/Ekurede Ward in Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. (Chief) Eghere Udumetotor, has appealed to the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC to adopt direct mode of primary for the Warri South Constituencies I and II in the party’s primary.

According to Hon. Udumetotor, the appeal “lies in the desire to accurately gauge the genuine popularity of aspirants, vying for positions within the party.”

He posited that the APC can move beyond potential internal politicking and rely on the collective voice of its registered members to determine who truly resonates with the grassroots.

“Direct primary, fosters a more democratic and transparent selection process, ultimately strengthening the party by ensuring its candidates are well-supported and have a clear mandate from the electorates.

“The call signifies a broader conversation about internal party democracy and the best mechanisms for selecting candidates, who can effectively represent their constituencies”, Hon. Udumetotor, asserted.

The lawmaker, used the medium to call on relevant stakeholders in Warri South Local Government Area, to attend the Warri South Council Legislative Arm public hearing on four critical bills, slated for Thursday May 14.

According to him, the public hearing taking place at the Warri South Local Government Council Legislative Arm, will critically review Executive Bill for a bye -law ensuring the compulsory use of life jackets on Warri South waterways, Executive Bill for the establishment of Warri South Rainbow Economic Hub, Executive Bill for the regulation of construction and buildings within Warri South Local Government Area as well as a Bill to establish and operate freedom squares within Warri South Local Government Area.
