Vociferous Itsekiri female group, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, has demanded explanation for what they described as ‘APC shutout of Itsekiri Nation in Warri South-West’ ahead of the party’s House of Assembly primaries.

The Delta State Assembly Screening Committee of APC, had in a report dated May 12, cleared only the current Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, to contest the party primary for Warri South-West State Constituency Seat, disqualifying Itsekiri-born, Dr. Andrew Igban and two other aspirants.

Reacting to the report released by the screening committee, the Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, staged a peaceful protest, insisting the Warri South-West House of Assembly aspirant of Itsekiri extraction, Dr. Andrew Igban, “will face the primaries, because we (referring to Itsekiri Nation) are the rightful owner of Warri South-West LGA, not the Gbaramatu Ijaws.”

The group, stressed: “Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West, belong to Itsekiris under the lordship of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR.”

President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Eric Mene, who addressed members of the group during the protest, asserted: “Warri Kingdom Women are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to intervene, because we will remain in APC.”
