2027: NDC Chairmen Endorse Esimaje Awani as Flagbearer for Warri Federal Constituency Seat

Chairmen of Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC in Warri South, Prince Debi Emiko. Warri South - West,  Justus Donokoromo and Warri North Local Government Area, Dr. Clarke Mejebi A., have endorsed Barr. Esimaje Vincent Awani as the NDC Flagbearer for the Warri Federal Constituency seat, ahead of the 2027 polls.

The endosement, was contained in a communique signed by the three local government party chairmen and reportedly read by the chairman of NDC in Warri South - West Local Government Area, Justus Donokoromo.

The communiqué, was made public this evening, Tuesday May 26, after extensive consultations with stakeholders, party faithful, grassroots supporters, youths, women groups and community leaders within Warri Federal Constituency.

They stated that the decision, was borne out of the prevailing political realities on ground and " the overwhelming grassroots acceptance of Barr. Esimaje Awani.

The communiqué, reads inter - alia: "We, the duly recognized Local Government Party Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, and Executive Members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) across Warri South, Warri North, and Warri South West Local Government Areas, after extensive consultations with stakeholders, party faithful, grassroots supporters, youths, women groups, and community leaders within the Warri Federal Constituency, hereby unanimously endorse Barrister Esimaje Awani as the sole and preferred flag bearer of our great party for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 General Elections.

"This endorsement is borne out of the prevailing political realities on ground, the overwhelming grassroots acceptance of Barrister Esimaje Awani, his unwavering commitment to the growth and expansion of the party, and his demonstrated capacity to mobilize support across the length and breadth of the constituency.

"The leadership of the party at the grassroots is firmly convinced that Barrister Esimaje Awani remains the only aspirant with the political strength, acceptability, credibility, and cross-community appeal capable of unseating the incumbent occupant of the seat in the forthcoming elections. This position is not based on sentiment, but on practical political assessment and the clear mood of the people within the constituency.

"We further note, with deep concern, that since the return of democratic governance in 1999, Warri South Local Government Area has not been given the opportunity to produce a representative for the Warri Federal Constituency despite its critical contributions to the political and economic development of the region. Equity, fairness, justice, and political inclusion therefore demand that the opportunity be accorded to Warri South at this critical time.

"As leaders who are directly connected to the people at the grassroots, we strongly appeal to the national and state leadership of our great party to listen to the genuine voice of the people on ground and respect the collective will of party members and supporters within the constituency.

"We believe firmly that any genuine consensus arrangement within the party must emanate from the people and not be imposed from outside the constituency. True consensus must reflect the aspirations, interests, and democratic wishes of the grassroots, which remain the foundation of our party’s ideology and principles.

"Accordingly, we reiterate our total endorsement and unwavering support for Barrister Esimaje Awani as the consensus candidate and preferred flag bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Warri Federal Constituency in the 2027 General Elections.

"We call on all party faithful, stakeholders, and leaders to unite behind this collective position in the overall interest of justice, victory, party unity, and the advancement of the NDC within the Warri Federal Constituency."
