Abe, Eyesan, Umar, Attah, Emu, others faceoff at NUPRC golf tourney

Excitement at the week-long 2026 Upstream Invitational Golf Tournament in Warri reached fever pitch on Saturday, June 27 as titans in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector faced off.

Delta State Governor, Rt.Hon Sheriff Oborevwori; was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu.

Some other notable personalities at the competition which took place at Ogunu Golf Club and Resort include: Chairman, NUPRC, Senator Magnus Abe; Commission Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan; Authority Chief Executive (ACE) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) Mr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar; and his predecessor, Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed.

Executive commissioners of the NUPRC; the CEO, Renaissance Africa Energy Company, Mr Tony Attah, as well as representatives of other top oil companies were also not left out. 

The contestants kept swinging their clubs even defying the hour-long rain which began at noon.

Addressing journalists after her game, the NUPRC boss said the event was not just about golf but an opportunity for players in the sector to network and exchange ideas outside of the quotidian office meetings.

Eyesan said the NUPRC would continue to support such golf tournaments which she says would be beneficial to the industry as Nigeria seeks to increase oil production.

The tourney commenced on Monday, June 22, 2026 with the caddies. The Pros played on Tuesday, 23rd June and Wednesday, 24th June while the Ogunu Club members and their invited guests from other golf clubs concluded their event on Friday, 26th June.

The grand finale and closing ceremony held on Saturday, 27th June, marking the end of the historic first edition.
