President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Eric Mene, has appealed to Ugborodo leaders such as Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Chief Ayirimi Emami and Chief John Okpeyor Daje, Hon. David Tonwe and others, to bury their hatchet and unite for the betterment of Itsekiri Nation.
She said the continued infighting in Ugborodo Federated Communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area, is impacting negatively on the larger Itsekiri Nation.
Mrs. Mene, opined that if the Ugborodo leaders were united, the recent sacking of scores of Itsekiri women in Chevron EGTL would not have happened.
According to her, if the affected Itsekiris were found guilty of flouting the policy of Chevron Nigeria Limited in the course of performing their duties, they should be replaced with fellow Itsekiris, not women of Calabar extraction.
Mrs. Mene, who spoke in emotion - laden tone, alleged that some officials of Chevron Nigeria Limited, were capitalizing on the internal strife in Ugborodo and the larger Itsekiri Nation, to drop many Itsekiris working in EGTL and replacing them with non - Itsekiris, particularly people of Calabar extraction.
“We need to let go. Please I am begging. The MoU of Late Eric Igban, need to be implemented fully”, she added.
