Delta State Government, has written the 25 Local Government Chairmen in the state, notifying them of decision to restrict vehicular and human movement from 7am -10am Saturday July 25.
According to a statement released Thursday July 23 and credited to the new Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Ogodo, the restriction order, is due to the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The statement, which was e-signed by the Deputy Director, Sanitation & Waste Management in the Ministry of Environment, Anaro Benedict, on the behalf of the Commissioner, urged the Local Government Chairmen, to mobilize resources for the timely evacuation of resultant waste/debris and set up Mobile Court to prosecute any sanitation offenders.
“In the light of this, residents should be sensitized to clean their environment and continue the practice of personal hygiene, stop indiscriminate dumping of waste, register with accredited PSPs for timely evacuation of their waste, fumigate their premises, clear overgrown vegetation and as well desilt their drainages”, the statement, noted.
