Popular Pay TV, StarTimes may lose sizeable number of its subscribers to GoTV in the coming weeks, as top European football leagues begin the 2026/ 2027 season.
The possibility of StarTimes losing some of its subscribers to GoTV, is not unconnected to the addition of Sporty TV to GoTV sports channels.
Sporty TV, which features the German Bundelisga, select - English Premier League, Scottish League, Italian Serie A, Spanish La - Liga, English Football cup games, Saudi Premier, League and a couple of African competitive football games, had been one of the key football channels on StarTimes, until the last 2025/ 2026 season of European football leagues.
The sports channel, whose content has greatly improved, featuring vital 2026/ 2027 pre season football friendlies of major football clubs in Europe, is on lower cost bouquet on GoTV, making it more enticing for Nigerian football followers, who are grappling with the demanding economic realities.
Sporty TV, which experienced occasional glitches during live broadcast of football games, whilst on sister - pay TV, now has stable and clean images on GoTV, featuring more interesting programmes of football and other sporting updates.
