Uwakeno, is an offshoot of our community - Olukpodu leaders fire back
L-R: Otomewo Omereyemi, Pa. Stephen Ajueyitsi Metsese & Vice Chairman of Olukpodu Community, Omawumi Joseph

Leaders of Aja-Olukpodu in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, say Uwakeno Community is an offshoot of Olukpodu, insisting that Olukpodu Community has been in existence with a rich ancestral history and was founded by Uweifor and her daughter, Egheri as the first settlers in the community.

Fresh Angle International, can report that the position of the Olukpodu community leaders, was contained in a document dated Wednesday August 12, 2026 and titled ‘REJOINDER: Uwakeno Community Public Notice/Caveat.’

The Olare-Aja (Head) of Olukpodu Community, Pa. Stephen Ajueyitsi, Chairman of Olukpodu Community, Otomewo Omereyemi and Secretary, Vincent Etan Amosuka, in the rejoinder made available to This Flagship Niger Delta Digital Newspaper, stated that Olukpodu Community, comprises settlements such as Adjigbeha bush, Aghigho bush, Opumami bush and Abrireri bush.

The rejoinder reads inter-alia:

OLUKPODU BRIEF HISTORY: Olukpodu Community has been in existence with a rich ancestral history and is founded by Uweifor and her daughter Egheri as the first settlers in the community.

This community has been in existence before Uwakeno Community was formed and the Uwakeno Community was given as a land to the son of Uweifor named Osigidi and the boundary is accentuated by the presence of coconut tree, which serves as a demarcation between the two communities, so Uwakeno Community is an offshoot of Olukpodu Community.

This brief history above is to inform the general public and specifically the Federal Government, Delta State Government, Warri South L.G.A. including their agencies and the corporate bodies/companies operating in Olukpodu Community and the various settlements that make up the community namely (Adjigbeha bush, Aghigho bush, Opumami bush, Abrireri bush).

That this settlements mentioned above makes up the Olukpodu Community and has been registered in the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) 23rd July, 2025.

The issue of the Olare-Aja in the Uwakeno Community is of no relevance to Olukpodu Community, because the Olukpodu Community is independent of the Uwakeno Community and the Uwakeno Community is an offshoot of the Olukpudo Community, so it beats common siege and historical reasoning to assert that the Olukpodu Community is under the Uwakeno Community.

That ideally, the Olukpodu Community won't have bothered with the registration of the Community since they know their history and their ancestral rights, but had to go for the registration at Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) after much protest on the erroneous inclusion of Olukpodu Community as a settlement under Uwakeno Community which some leaders of the Uwakeno Community is bent on upholding. In attestation to this rich historical facts of the Olukpodu Community is the OBODO Community which is the ancestral home of the Olukpodu Community indigenes and it's where the Olukpodu Community migrated from.

After the official registration of the Olukpodu Community at Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the leaders and members of the Community visited the Olu of Warri His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III and his highness gave his blessings. They also visited OBODO Community the ancestral home and the Olare-Aja and Elders in Council also gave them their blessings.

On this historical facts and analogy, we wish to debunk those allegations and notifications given by some Leaders of the Uwakeno Community to the general public and companies, Local, State and Federal Governments with his agencies that it's frivolous, ambiguous and without substance which is capable of misleading the general public.
