Real Warri Pikin show to go on with the name ‘Real Warri Pikin Live In Delta’

After the hullabaloo and subsequent cancellation of the September 20 comedy show in Delta State, over ethnic tensions, indication has emerged that Real Warri Pikin show, will now proceed under the name ‘REAL WARRI PIKIN Live in Delta.’

This much was disclosed by the Warri Boys Association, WBA, Lagos, in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International in the wee-hours of Monday August 24.

WBA Lagos, explained that the new title reflects a broader, more inclusive identity that accommodates all sons and daughters of Delta State and indeed Nigeria, “while still celebrating the unique Warri brand and humor that the world has come to love through Anita Asuoha, aka RealWarriPikin.”

The President and Public Relations Officer, WBA, Lagos; Messrs. Matthew Ogagaworia and Alex Eyengho, respectively, in the statement, said they were pleased to note that through dialogue, maturity, and commitment to peace, all parties involved have now amicably resolved their differences.

The statement, reads: “The Warri Boys Association, WBA, Lagos, has followed with keen interest the developments surrounding the initial cancelation and subsequent renaming of the highly anticipated comedy event, “REAL WARRI PIKIN Live in Warri.”

“We are aware that the initial announcement of the event to hold at the Monarchy Events Centre sparked arguments and agitations by concerned stakeholders and members of the Effurun community, regarding the naming and location of the event.

“We understand that the contention arose from deep sentiments of identity, heritage, and communal pride that are unique to Effurun and Warri, two sister cities that together form the heartbeat of Delta State.

“WBA acknowledge that in the heat of these conversations, the event was initially canceled. However, we are pleased to note that through dialogue, maturity, and commitment to peace, all parties involved have now amicably resolved their differences. We are particularly happy because peace and unity have always been the mantra of WBA. We are glad to announce that the show will now proceed under the new name, “REAL WARRI PIKIN Live in Delta.”

“This new title reflects a broader, more inclusive identity that accommodates all sons and daughters of Delta State and indeed Nigeria, while still celebrating the unique Warri brand and humor that the world has come to love through Anita Asuoha, aka RealWarriPikin.

*WBA therefore:*

“1. *Commends all parties* — the organizers, the Effurun stakeholders, the host community, and the Delta State Government — for choosing the path of dialogue and peaceful resolution instead of escalation. This is the Delta spirit we are known for.

“2. *Calls for continued peace and mutual respect* between and among Warri, Effurun, and other critical stakeholders in Delta State. Our diversity is our strength, and we must never allow issues of name, boundary, or location to divide us.

“3. *Urges all Deltans, both at home and in the diaspora, to come out en masse* to support “REAL WARRI PIKIN Live in Delta.” This event is not just comedy; it is a celebration of our culture, resilience, and unity. Let us turn out and show the world the peace and hospitality Delta is known for.

“4. *Reiterates WBA’s commitment* to promoting the image of Warri and Delta State as a safe, united, and entertainment-friendly destination. We will continue to engage stakeholders to ensure that development and cultural expression thrive without rancor.

“As an association of proud Warri sons based in Lagos, we believe that what unites us as Deltans is far greater than what divides us. Let this incident serve as a lesson that when we talk, we will always find common ground.

“We congratulate RealWarriPikin and her team for their professionalism and for prioritizing peace. We wish the event resounding success.”
