The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi, has commended the leadership and men of the state's police command for being professionally proactive in the state.
The Chief Judge expressed this satisfaction with the police and other security agencies in the state when he paid a condolence visit on the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Kankarofi, yesterday at the Kogi State Police Command headquarters in Lokoja, the state capital, for the passing of late Assistant Commissioner of Police for Operations, ACP Ali Anslem, whose demise occured on 27th August, 2026, was reportedly notable in dedication to his duties.
The CJ paid the visit on behalf of the Judiciary alongside his brother heads of courts in the the state, Hon. Abdulkareem Aruwa, the Grand Kadi, Sharia Court of Appeal and Hon. Justice Siyaka Usman, President of the state's Customary Court of Appeal.
He said despite having made individual calls immediately getting the news of the deceased, the heads of courts embarked on the condolence visit on behalf of the Management and staff of the state judiciary.
Reminiscing on humanity, the CJ said two platforms are beyond man's manipulation and control are life and death. The second, when occurs, especially at the of loved ones, was only prayers leaves man with no option than prayers for repose of the departed.
"One thing with life and death is that it is purely in the hands of the Almighty. Death respects nobody's status, whether you're rich or poor, old or young, influential or not. That's why when it occurs, human beings regret its arrival because it comes without notice but should be prayerful for the soul of the dead.
"I therefore implore you to take solace in the fact that you would have been able to save him if it had required any amount of money to do that. But since that wasn't possible, we count on the Grace of God to console, comfort and strengthen you.
"We pray that you will not loose any of your officers as I urge you to focus on the lessons learnt from his demise because one day we'll all surely return to our creator without giving us notice.
"Those of us still alive do not have control over our lives. We don't need to fear death but to keep asking for the grace of God to live a fulfilled life. So let us have the fear of God and the spirit of humanity.
"Let me also use this time to say that you have exhibited an uncommon disposition since your arrival in the state and we appreciate that in the judiciary. I am convinced that every one is unique in a particular way. That's why it is most appropriate to be humble. I can attest to your uniqueness and it is why you have been responding actively to insecurity in the state. It is by the grace of God that you are here today as CP and we pray that He keeps you long for us" concluded the CJ.
To corroborate the CJ's speech the Grand Kadi offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late ACP.
In appreciation of the visit, the CP profoundly thanked the leadership of the state judiciary for identifying with the Force at its grieving moment while also acknowledging the robust relationship the command had shared with the judiciary in addition to his robust personal relations with the leadership of the third arm of government.
He disclosed that the deceased's contributions was replated with selflessness while contributing to the pursuit of the command's mandates.
"The officer we lost was one of our best. He was a very gallant and always reliable officer. He put service first before any other thing including himself. And that is what led to his death because he was stressed without us knowing it. His death was shocking because up till his death he was still very dedicated. His dedication took its toll on him which we didn't know until his demise. So we're extremely grateful for sharing our grief and joining us to pray for the repose of his soul. We're indeed grateful and appreciate the visit" he added
To the judiciary, he hinted of the esteemed regards the Force' higher authority holds the Judges and Kadis of the state and further pledged that the Judges' Protection Unit of the Command would not rest on its oars.
"Since my assumption of duty, the Command has received all the support needed from the judiciary and we have no reason to complain. Likewise, the judiciary receives my priority in the area of providing security because you are an arm of government that makes others stand.
"I must mention that your attitude, your personal humility, despite your exalted position, is worthy of emulation. So I thank all of you, the heads of courts in the state, for the fantastic relationship we are having with the judiciary and we will continue to reciprocate that.
"Kogi State Judiciary is exemplary and I commend you for that because that's a sample of human uniqueness you just spoke about. Your humility has left an indelible mark in me. Even the IG places a high premium on you and that is why despite withdrawal of personal guards the Unit is functioning. So please, do not hesitate to call on us any time our attention or support is needed" requested the CP.
The management team of the command received the visitors just as the CJ's entourage also included the Chief Registrar of the High Court and other Directors.
