The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has named a major road within the institution after the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayiri Emami.
At a colourful ceremony held during the commissioning of various projects executed in the College, including the newly named Road, the Chairman of the 8th Governing Council of the College, Alex Eyengho, expressed optimism that the honour would spur the Ologbotsere to continue to add value to the institution.
"As you all know, the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayiri Emami, is a bona fide Fellow of this great institution — FCE Abeokuta — the over 50-year-old and first tertiary institution established in the historical trajectory of Ogun State. I have no doubt whatsoever that naming this strategic Road within the College after the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom will spur Chief Emami to continue to add value to the College as the philanthropist that he is. It is on this note that I hereby commission 'Chief Ayiri Emami Road (The Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom)' to the glory of God Almighty," Eyengho stated.
Chief Emami, who was unavoidably absent at the ceremony, conveyed his appreciation to the Governing Council and Management of the College for the honour bestowed on him — first as a Fellow of the College and now with a Road named after him. He noted that he is already part of the FCE Abeokuta family and pledged to contribute his quota to the advancement of the citadel of learning.
Several dignitaries from far and near were present at the projects commissioning ceremony.
