PUBLIC NOTICE

The Ugborodo Community Management Committee (UCMC) is aware of a proposed protest being orchestrated by a self-styled group calling itself the “Voice of Warri Kingdom Women,” under the guise of “Protest Against Marginalization of Itsekiri by Chevron Nigeria Limited.” Let it be clearly understood: we ordinarily do not respond to groups without legitimacy or standing in Ugborodo. However, to prevent the spread of falsehoods and mischief, we will state the facts with absolute firmness.

1. Ugborodo is not a no man’s land.

2. Ugborodo is a Federated Community made up of several long established communities.

3. Ugborodo has always operated with recognized traditional and administrative structures the Elders Council, Trust/Management Committee, Women Group, and Youth Wing.

Any attempt to distort these facts is a deliberate act of sabotage.

Let it be known without hesitation: Ugborodo has NO agenda imagined or fabricated to drive Chevron Nigeria Limited out of our land. Chevron remains our most dependable partner in development regardless of how slow it may be, and we will not allow reckless individuals to undermine a relationship that has sustained our community for decades.

We are fully aware that certain individuals working as members of staff of Chevron may be pursuing tribal or selfish interests that contradict Chevron’s corporate mission. These individuals, not Chevron, will be decisively removed from Ugborodo. We will not destroy the blessing God Almighty has placed in our land because of the destructive ambitions of a few.

Accordingly, we issue a direct and unequivocal warning to the so-called Voice of Warri Kingdom Women: Desist immediately from any planned protest in or around the Chevron Tank Farm, Ugborodo. Your actions are unauthorized, unrecognized, and constitute a direct threat to the peace and stability of our community.

All matters relating to unemployment, community development, Ikpere HCDT, empowerment, and CSR are already being addressed through structured, lawful engagement between Chevron’s leadership and the Ugborodo Community Management Committee EXCO, Leaders, and other legitimate organs of the community. Feedback is consistently relayed to the Elders Council. We do not require external agitators to speak for us.

Ugborodo possesses full capacity to engage Chevron proactively and firmly. Our restraint has always been guided by responsibility ensuring that our actions do not destabilize the operations of an IOC whose presence is vital to our collective survival.

Furthermore, the PIA HCDT law clearly defines host communities and settlers. In this regard, we do not recognize the standing, role, or relevance of this self acclaimed group. Our engagements will continue strictly in accordance with the law, not with unauthorized bodies seeking attention.

Finally, let this serve as a final and stern warning: Any attempt to disrupt peace in Ugborodo through unauthorized protests will be met with uncompromising resistance and total rejection. We hereby call on all security agencies to remain on high alert and take note of any group or individuals attempting to foment unrest in our land.

Ugborodo stands united, organized, and unwavering.
