Labour Party Candidate for Warri Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Mr. Slater Christopher Omeresan, has been confronted with a plethora of abandoned projects in the ancient town of Koko, just as he described the situation as shameful.
Our Co-Publisher/ Managing Editor, reports that the House of Representatives hopeful was briefed about the abandoned projects Saturday October 10, when he and members of his campaign team visited the Olare-Aja (Oldest Man) in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area.
The Olare-Aja of Koko, Pa Nanna Anthony Oluwaghomisan, who spoke through Pa A. T. Ajaforde, mentioned shore protection project, Koko township stadium, Koko-Oghoye Road and the Sea port as some of the key projects abandoned by the Federal and Delta State Governments.
Pa. Nanna, encouraged sons and daughter of Koko to support the candidacy of Mr. Slater Christopher Omeresan, whom he acknowledged as son of the soil.
Slater, who was apparently astonished by the level of abandoned projects in Koko, described the situation as shameful.

“It’s a shame that Koko, which is an heritage ground, a tourist ground, which is supposed to attract people, is still a shadow of itself, because a few people decided to keep Koko this way, due to their selfish reason. This was why I decided to run to stop them, so that we can build Warri North for everybody and for the upcoming children” he stated.
The Labour Party Candidate, who disclosed that he is from the Megbele family in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area and Slater Family in Okere, Warri South Local Government Area, later addressed some party faithful and his supporters at a separate gathering same day in Koko.
While soliciting their votes, with a promise of advancing educational development in the area, if given the mandate come January 2027, Slater, stressed the need for the electorates in Warri Federal Constituency to fight for their freedom, via the ballot.
“Don’t vote for those, who will come and give you money, after your vote, you will not see them again till the next election. Stand to protect your votes after voting for me” he charged party faithful and supporters.
Chairman of Labour Party in Warri North Local Government Area, Mr. Beecroft Weyinmi, who spoke in the same, said “a vote for him (Slater) will bring the needed changes.

While one Mrs. Koko Elvis, who spoke on behalf of the women, said since the last elections, they had not seen who they voted for, or felt his presence in Koko, Mr. Charles Scott Williams, stated: “There is no chair, no ceiling, no light, no road, in Iwere Collage, Koko. There is no functional ambulance in Koko, especially in the riverine areas since 1999.”
The gathering also featured the presentation of the party flag to Mr. Slater Christopher Omeresan, by Delta State Vice Chairman of Labour Party, Hon. Derick Oghenemine Darah.
