Members and supporters of National Rescue Movement, NRM in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, have called on the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, to immediately desist from allegedly assaulting and threatening NRM members in Iyede.
Fresh Angle International, understands that the alarm cum warning, was as a result of alleged criminal assault of one Mr. William Oghene-Ochuko and a certain Mr. Sylva Endurance of the NRM.
The two NRM members, were purportedly assaulted on Saturday October 10, 2026 at Ogbeki Junction, Iyede, Isoko North Local Government Area.
According to a statement e-signed by Hon. Leonard Odion and made available to This Newspaper, Tuesday October 13, an APC thug in Iyede, was reportedly arrested in connection with the assault, even as a certain Onoriode Uwoeya was fingered.
The suspects, reportedly claimed that they acted on the instructions of Mr. Okpobor (full name withheld) of DESOPADEC and a serving Senator in the state.
“Only a failed party like the APC and its failed leaders in Isoko, will be scared of the NRM to the extent of physically assaulting innocent and harmless supporters of the NRM.
“If the APC has performed well in Isoko, they will not be scared of any opposition party or candidate. Why is Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas afraid of the young men and women in the NRM?
“What is more shameful is that a few Isoko Youths have allowed themselves to be used by failed politicians to unleash violence against their own people” the statement, alleged.
The NRM called on Isoko Youths to resist those who want to keep them in darkness, slavery and support the NRM, just as the party charged the Nigerian Police to arrest the thugs and ensure they are charged to court speedily.
The NRM urged the United States of America to sanction the said Delta Senator and Mr. Okpobor, until they issue clear and unequivocal statements denouncing their involvement in the assault, by calling Mr. Onoriode Uwojeya and his cohorts in Iyede to order.
“Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas and Mr. Oghenekome Okpobor, will be held responsible if anything happens to Mr. William Oghene-Ochuko, Mr. Sylvia Endurance or any other NRM supporter in Iyede” Odion warned.
