Community to Delta CP: Restrain Iyara, Oghenebrohie, from using ‘Ugo Cultural Festival 2026’ to cause crisis

The Eyube Numa Odion Community in Warri South Local Government Area, has appealed to Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, to restrain Chief Omode Iyara, Comr. Daniel Iyara, and Jacob Amuah Oghenebrohie, from leveraging on hosting the "Ugo Cultural Festival 2026" to cause a breach of public peace within Eyube Numa Odion Community land in Warri.

In a letter dated October 29, 2026 and addressed to the Police Commissioner, the Eyube Numa Odion Community, declared that they own the geographical or historical location referred to as "Odion Urhobo”, insisting that the said ‘Odion Urhobo Community’ is non-existent moniker.

The Community, in the petition routed through D. A. Mene, Esq. (For: Dennis Mene Legal & Co., Mene-Okotie Chambers) and made available to Fresh Angle International Friday October 30, recalled that similar situation occurred on September 27, 2025, when the aforementioned individuals attempted to host the same festival, culminating in a violent crisis that resulted in the untimely death of Mr. Jerry Aduara.

Below is full text of the petition:

October 29, 2026

?The Commissioner of Police,

Delta State Police Command,

Asaba, Delta State.

?

?Dear Sir,

PETITION AGAINST CHIEF OMODE IYARA, COMR. DANIEL IYARA, AND JACOB AMUAH OGHENEBROHIE FOR THREAT TO PEACE AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE A BREACH OF PUBLIC PEACE

We act as Solicitors to the Accredited Representatives of the Eyube Numa Odion Community in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State (hereinafter referred to as "Our Client"), on whose explicit instructions we write this petition.

1. Our Client's attention was recently drawn to promotional flyers currently in circulation announcing an upcoming event titled "Ugo Cultural Festival 2026," organized under an alien and non-existent moniker, "Odion Urhobo Community."

2. Our client wish to state unequivocally that there is no geographical or historical location known as "Odion Urhobo." Our Client owns the entire stretch of land in question, as established by law and custom.

3. That similar situation occurred on September 27, 2025, when the aforementioned individuals attempted to host the same festival on our Client’s land with the above alien and non-existent name. At that time, our Client formally alerted security agencies to the potential for violence. Unfortunately, those warnings were ignored, culminating in a violent crisis that resulted in the untimely death of Mr. Jerry Aduara.

4. That this tragic incident is currently subject to criminal prosecution and civil suits in various courts, including:

(1) Suit No. W/10C/2026: STATE V. JOHNSON AKPERI

(2) Suit No. W/128/FHR/2026: ABRAHAM EYUBE & 2 ORS V. C.O.P & 2 ORS

(3) Suit No. W/12/FHR/2026: MR. ENAMIGWONOR AKPOTOR V. MR. ABRAHAM EYUBE & ORS.

(4) Suit No. W/11/FHR/2026: CHIEF ONORIODE EDAH-OKOH & ORS V. MR. ABRAHAM EYUBE & ORS.

(5) Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/143/2025: APPEARANCE OMATSOLA & ORS V. D.P.O & 4 ORS.

5. That the clear intention of the organizers, Chief OmodeIyara, Comr. Daniel Iyara, and Jacob Amuah Oghenebrohie is to leverage this festival as a provocative tool to unlawfully lay claim to our Client’s land.

6. That  proceeding with this festival on our Client’s land, under a fictitious title is a deliberate act intended to cause chaos and trigger severe civil unrest.

Prayer / Call to Action

To prevent a recurrence of the tragic violence of September 2025 and to protect lives and property, we urgently call on the Security Agencies and the Warri South Local Government Council to:

a. Intervene immediately and call Chief Omode Iyara, Comt. Daniel Iyara, and Jacob Anuah Oghenebrohie to order.

b. Restrain the aforementioned persons and their agents from hosting the "Ugo Cultural Festival 2026" or engaging in any conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace within Eyube Numa Odion Community land.

Attached herewith as Annexure DM 1 is a copy of the promotional flyer in circulation.

A stitch in time saves nine.

Yours faithfully,

D. A. Mene, Esq.
