Delta North Senate 2027: Arewa, Yoruba Communities in Asaba, Oko Back Okowa

Non-indigenes residents in Asaba, the Delta State capital have thrown their weight behind former Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s bid to represent Delta North Senatorial District in 2027.

The endorsements came on Sunday when members of the Arewa community in Oko, Oshimili South Local Government Area and the Yoruba community in Asaba hosted the Okowa Senatorial Campaign Organization led by the Director-General of the campaign, Hon. Pascal Adigwe.

Addressing the Arewa community in Oko, Adigwe said Okowa possesses the competence, experience and character required for effective representation at the National Assembly.

He said the former governor, who is seeking the ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), distinguished himself through massive investments in social infrastructure, human capital development and peace-building while in office.

Adigwe also commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for driving development through the Renewed Hope and M.O.R.E Agenda respectively, noting that Tinubu’s economic reforms and Oborevwori’s infrastructural push have repositioned governance at both levels.

Other leaders of the campaign, including Barr. Ikechukwu Maduemezia and Hon. Sunny Obi, urged residents to support all APC candidates across board, from President to House of Assembly.

Responding, the Chairman of the Arewa community in Asaba and head of the Delta State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwul Turkur, said their support for Okowa and APC was based on performance and the party’s growing popularity.

Other Arewa leaders, including Alhaji Abdullahi Suleman, Baba Rabiu, Abdul-Kadir Madaki and Lawal Iman, assured that non-indigenes in the capital territory would mobilize massively for APC victory in 2027.

The campaign team subsequently moved to Asaba, where they engaged members of the Yoruba community who also expressed their unflinching support for APC.

The DG and his team reiterated the need for collective mobilisation to secure victory for Okowa and all APC candidates.

Speaking on behalf of the Yoruba community, its leader in Delta State, Asiwaju Famour Maroof Lawal, alongside Dr. Yunus Adekola, Chief Otunba Fafowora, Babatunde Ismail and Madam Eunice Funke Aniche, lauded the APC-led governments for their contributions to national development, assuring that the re-election of President Tinubu and victory of other APC candidates remain their priority.
