According to him, Nigeria's vast energy resources and Egypt's established industrial base provide a strong foundation for deeper cooperation in manufacturing, energy, petrochemicals, fertilisers and other strategic sectors.
He added that stronger collaboration could encourage Nigerian industrialists to expand into Egypt while creating opportunities for Egyptian businesses to strengthen their presence in Nigeria, fostering a mutually beneficial investment ecosystem.
The Minister noted that the benefits of such cooperation would go beyond trade and investment, extending to job creation, technology transfer, skills development and the emergence of supporting industries.
Asked whether Egypt would welcome a Dangote refinery investment, Saleh indicated that the scope of potential collaboration was much broader.
“It doesn't have to be a refinery specifically. There are several sectors in which collaboration can happen. What is important is building a partnership that creates value for both countries and for Africa as a whole,” he said.
The engagement aligns with Dangote Group's broader Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to expand the company's industrial footprint across Africa, strengthen regional value chains and position the continent as a globally competitive manufacturing hub.
Beyond refining and petrochemicals, the evolving relationship between Nigerian and Egyptian industrial players is expected to open opportunities in fertiliser production, manufacturing, energy-related investments and industrial services.
As both countries pursue higher levels of industrialisation, private-sector growth and job creation, the emerging partnership could become a model for mobilising African capital, expertise and industrial capacity in support of a more integrated and prosperous continent.
