LG Poll: Delta Lawmaker, Azaka fingered in N6m rigging plot

The member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Azuka Azaka has been accused of releasing N4 million to a top military officer from Warri axis in a plot to rig the Delta State Local Government election slated for Saturday, January 6 in favour of candidates of Peoples Democratic Party in his constituency, Fresh Angle International has learnt.

The accusation was made in Asaba by a group which goes by the name, Democracy for Good Governance and Transparency.

Chairman of the group, Chief Ossai Olisah told Journalists in Asaba that those penciled down to be used in the alleged rigging plot include military personnel and some staff of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC.

According to Chief Ossai Olisah, the N4m was released by Hon. Azuka Azaka to the top military officer to enable him mobilize his men that will be used for the alleged rigging plot, while another N2M was purportedly released to DSIEC staff who will take charge of the provision of ballot boxes and papers to perfect the election fraud.

The group claimed that DSIEC staffers have agreed to release two ballot boxes to Azuka Azaka, adding that the authentic box will be kept in Azaka’s house, while the fake one will be provided for the electorates at the election venue.

It was alleged that other PDP big wigs in the area whose candidates are contesting have reportedly joined forces with Azaka to actualize the plot.

Some persons (names withheld) from wards 3 and 7 in Ndokwa West Local Government Area have reportedly condemned Hon. Azaka, stressing that in a true democratic system, electorates are allowed to vote for candidates of their choice.

Fresh Angle International gathered that the opposition parties in the area that have fielded candidates in the forthcoming poll are preparing strong petitions to be forwarded to Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, Department of State Services, DSS, Delta State Police Command and Human Rights Organizations among others on the alleged plans of Azuka Azaka.

Efforts made to reach Azuka Azaka on the allegation through several telephone calls and test messages were futile.
