The Governor of District 9141, Rotary International, Rotarian Ikponmwosa Ogiemudia says Rotary International decided to embark on the planting of trees in order for the environment and its inhabitants to get enough oxygen as well as curb natural disasters.
Rotarian Ogiemudia gave the explanation Thursday January 18 in Warri, Delta State, after launching the tree planting campaign at Dom Domingos College and Demonstration Secondary School, both in Warri, as part of his four-day official visit to zones 5 and 6 (comprising 8 Rotary Clubs) of Rotary Club in Delta State.
He noted that the exercise was to let the future generation know that the future is in their hands.
The Rotary DG who visited Osubi Community Health Centre being constructed by Rotary Club of Osubi, promised that WAEC fees of 21 students of Opete Secondary School, Enerhen will be paid by the district.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that sets of furniture was also donated to Opete Primary School, Enerhen in Uvwie Local Government Area by Rotary Club of Effurun GRA during the visit.
The Assistant Governor of District 9141, Dr. Ogbonna Ikenna commended the DG on behalf of other Rotarians for personally launching the tree planting campaign and presenting the donations.
The Rotary delegation was received by the Vice Principals of Dom Donmingos College and Demonstration Secondary School, Mrs. Marian Oseji and Mrs. Patience Sawyerr respectively.
