Strike: Health workers converge at Labour House, Asaba

Over Hundred health workers in Delta & Edo State have converged at Labour House in Asaba to reinforce their commitment to continuing the
ongoing joint health sector union strike.

National and State executive of the Union took turns to address the workers on the need for them to remain united in their demand for
enhanced salary structure.

Our Asaba Correspondent reports that the National Secretary, Joint Health Sector Union, Abuja, Comrade Florence Ekpebor said the strike would continue until their demands were met.

Comrade Ekpebor urged the Federal government to meet the agreement it signed with the Union on 30th September 2017 which she described as
the key issue bothering on salary and welfare.

According to her, care givers needed to be catered for and hospitals should be well funded, “Since April 18 this year, we have been on strike over demand for enhanced salary, all what we are asking for is equity and justice”.

Comrade Ekpebor maintained that the Federal Ministry of Health had not been fair to their members, emphasizing that their salaries should be increased to the same percentage as that of doctors was reviewed upward.
