NDDC Board has revoked over N200 Billion projects, Ifowodo reveals

The Commissioner representing Delta State in the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo has revealed that the current leadership of NDDC has revoked projects worth over 200 billion naira across the nine sates of the Niger Delta, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Dr. Ifowodo made the disclosure Thursday August 2 at Enwhe, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, while inspecting renovation work of a four-classroom block/toilet at Enwhe and Enwhe –Olomoro Road project embarked upon by NDDC.

According to him, NDDC has over 10,000 projects in the Niger Delta which were done at zero percent level, noting that the projects were not  manageable, hence their revocation.

The NDDC Commissioner pointed out that the commission’s next focus will be on jobs done from 5-20 percent level until they get to stages where they won’t be revoked.

He revealed that Delta State is having over 1,000 projects of the commission and stressed that NDDC will  henceforth concentrate more on development of physical infrastructures such as Koko-Ogheye Road, Gbaregolo-Bomadi -Tuomo Road, Ogulagha-Ojobo Road, Uzere-Patani Road, coastal rail lines and power projects in order to boost economic potentials of the Niger Delta.

Dr. Ifowodo assured of the completion and commissioning of four classrooms’ block and toilet at Oviota Primary school in Enwhe community before resumption of next school session.

At the Palace of Ovie of Enwhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Anthony Efekodha, Dr. Ifowodo stated that NDDC has re-awarded the Enwhe –Olomoro Road and wondered why the contractors have not mobilized to site, adding that the commission is interested in the completion of the road which will link Oleh and Olomoro to the East-West Road.

The Traditional Ruler of Enwhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Anthony Efekodha promised to make sure the contractors return to site within the next one week to commence work at Enwhe –Olomoro Road, assuring of a peaceful working environment.

Those that accompanied the NDDC commissioner for the inspection were: Director, Delta State Office, Mr. Ogor Gbubemi, Head of Project Monitoring and Supervision, Delta State, Mr. Ogheneare Stephen, Head of Community and Rural Development, Delta State Office, Mr. Atirene Ethan, Overy Fredrick, Chief Security Officer, Mrs. Ebiere and Mr. Samson.
