We will not tolerate absenteeism, Warri South Council boss tells staff

The Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye says his administration will not tolerate absenteeism, calling for attitudinal change from staffers of the council in the performance of their duties.
 
Dr. Uroye who stated that his administration’s principle is based on standard, promised to place high premium on staff welfare in his quest at  transforming the face of Warri South local government.
 
The Warri South local government boss who made the declaration while addressing staff of Warri South local government council during a special congress organized by the local government branch of National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, disclosed that apart from the on-going upgrading of infrastructural and communication facilities at the council secretariat, his administration has procured a 200KVA generator to replace the old one at the council main secretariat.
 
While commending the Council’s Head of Personnel Management, Mr. James kolo for maintaining the principle of prudence while he held away, Dr. Uroye noted the financial challenge being faced by the council as a result of the huge deduction for primary school teachers’ salaries and disclosed that his administration has hired consultants to verify the staff strength of primary schools in the area with a view to ascertaining the actual number of primary school teachers working in the local government.
 
Speaking earlier, the Warri South Council branch chairman of National Union of Local Government Employees, Comrade Godfrey Affor Maku commended management of the council for prompt payment of staff salaries and allowances, just as he enjoined staff of the council to cooperate with the newly inaugurated staff audit adhoc committee.
 
Comrade Maku applauded the ongoing upgrading of facilities at the council secretariat as well as environment sanitation strides by the Dr. Uroye administration and appealed to management to do more in the area of staff welfare
