Warri South provides accommodation, cash to fire victims

The  Executive of Warri South Local Government Council on Wednesday September 19, gave cash donation to victims of the recent inferno that occurred  at Igbudu Community in Warri, to enable surviving members of the family secure better accommodation,just as the council executive led by the chairman, Dr. Micheal Tidi also gave out five hundred thousand naira(N500,000.00) to victims of the fire incident that occurred at Ajamimogha,Warri ealier this year.

 

It will be recalled that the fire outbreak at Essi Layout,Igbudu community claimed the lives of two babies of the same family and completely raised down the house they lived in, while the victims’ grandmother and two other children escaped death.

Speaking shortly at his office in Warri before presenting the financial largesse to Mama Alice Moses, grandmother of the two deceased babies at Igbudu Community, Warri South Chairman, Dr. Micheal Tidi, enjoined surviving members of the family to use the council financial support in securing a better accommodation.

While commending Igbudu Community leaders for their efforts at preventing the fire from further spread and damage, the Warri South Council Chief Executive warned against the use of candle stick as light in their homes and noted that the family will be considered for empowerment programmes when the opportunity arises.

President of Igbudu Youth, Oyiboaga Ogheneovo Pius, Aunty to the deceased babies, Mrs. Maureen Okene and Mama Alice Moses, who also suffered from the fire outbreak,thanked Dr. Tidi and the entire Warri South Council Executive for providing succour to them in time of distress.

Dr. Tidi had ealier led members of his executive to Ajamimogha Community Town Hall, Warri, where they gave out N500,000.00 to 34 victims of an inferno that razed down residential houses as well as shops January this year when he assumed office.

He praised the councillor representing Ajamimogha in Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Philip Festus Awani for the role he played during the fire incident and efforts to attract the council’s support for the victims amid paucity of fund.

While admonishing the victims to be more sensitive to safety issues around them, Dr. Tidi stressed the need for them to judiciously share the financial support like they did when former National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor provided similar relief package.

One of the victims, Joy Eligboyibo who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the Dr. Tidi administration for the largesse and prayed God to reward the council authority.

Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Supervisors as well as the council’s Head of Personnel Management,Mrs. Remi Omatsuli, were among prominent officials of Warri South Council that accompanied Dr. Tidi to Ajamimogha.
