Reps candidate, Atsepoyi tasks newsmen on developmental journalism
Atsepoyi Freedom

African Action Congress, AAC Candidate for Warri Federal Constituency Seat in the 2019 general elections, Atsepoyi Freedom has tasked media practitioners in Delta State on the need to report and expose issues that will attract the much needed development to Delta State as well as other parts of the Niger Delta.

The social media development-driven advocate cum politician, wondered why conventional media practitioners in Warri and other parts of Delta State were silent over the shutdown of Osubi Airstrip in Okpe Local Government Area for almost two months, until he raised the agenda on his widely followed social media handle October 18.
The African Action Congress House of Representatives hopeful in his usually viral short advocacy video on instagram, called on Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who incidentally represents the constituency where the Airstrip is situated, to address the avoidable shutdown.
Atsepoyi who queried the rationale behind the Delta State government's inaction on the Airstrip closure while the Airport at Asaba remained operational, told Fresh Angle International that he had to put calls through to Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, The Ologbotsere of Warri, Chief Ayirimi Emami as well as a former Minister of Lands and Housing, Dr. (Mrs.) Akon Eyakeni, before the Delta State House of Assembly passed a resolution, calling on the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene.

The Airstrip which was shutdown by Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA over alleged debt issue, eventually reopened for operations Thursday October 25.

According to the equal rights and justice advocate, for the period the Osubi Airstrip was shutdown, air travelers who had to catch flights through Benin Airport, were exposed to safety and criminal issues along the poor state of Warri - Benin Highway, while workers as well as vendors working at the Osubi Airstrip suffered economic hardship aside the general adverse economic implications on Delta South and Delta Central Senatorial districts.
