There is looming danger among inhabitants of Jeddo in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State as the only access bridge connecting Jeddo community and other adjoining towns imminent collapse.
Commuters and residents of the area are afraid of the impending collapse of the bridge which was constructed with culvert rings by SPDC as access to it's location for over 40 decades ago.
The Jeddo bridge, if not given urgent reconstruction attention will cut off other communities, namely : Ugbokodo the community of the Delta State Works Commissioner, Chief. James Augoye, Ughoton, Omadino, Obodo and Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Areas.
Investigation revealed that the bridge started caving in several months ago due to heavy equipments passage and increased traffic experienced in recent times in Jeddo and across other neighboring towns.
Commuters are however commending the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for approving the ongoing construction of Old Okpe Road in Jeddo and appealed for immediate action to be taken for the total reconstruction of the Jeddo bridge.
