Though it has not been made public, Fresh Angle International has gathered from an authoritative source in Social Democratic Party, SDP as we reported earlier that Hon. Daniel Reyenieju of the House of Representatives, has secured the SDP ticket for Warri Federal Constituency in the 2019 polls from its original candidate, said to be an ijaw by extraction.
The move by the PDP Federal lawmaker who came fourth at the party’s House of Representatives primary has already split loyalist and sympathizers of the PDP, between Chief Thomas Ereyitomi who won the party ticket and the incumbent, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju who will be seeking re-election on the platform of SDP.
A Pro Reyenieju pressure group, Reyenieju Support Group, RSG in defense of their principal’s move during a recent press briefing held at the Federal lawmaker’s Warri Constituency Office, stated that it won’t be the first time a PDP member will be contesting on the platform of another political party.
They mentioned the case of Barr. Dennis Omovie of Warri South Constituency 2 seat during his first tenure, Chief Joseph Otumara under GDM, when he first contested as Warri South Chairman and most recently that of the incumbent member representing Warri South Constituency 1 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Mrs.) Shola Daibo, who contested the 2017 Bye- election on the platform of Accord Party as basis for their argument, even though the primary that produced Chief Thomas Ereyitomi as PDP Candidate was generally adjudged as free, fair and transparent.
As at the time of this report, key foot soldiers of Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, a body believed to have been formed by Hon. Reyenieju and sympathetic to PDP, were already making moves to garner support for the three- time lawmaker.
