Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi says Warri South is always first in things that concern Delta State Government since the present administration took over affairs of the state, assuring that Warri will totally mobilize and support the reelection bid of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019.

Dr. Tidi gave the assurance Monday December 10 in Warri South Council Main Secretariat during an advocacy tour of select-local government councils in Delta State by Special Adviser to Governor Okowa on Local Government Affairs, Hon. Joseph Otirhue.

The Warri South Council Boss expressed delight about the visit of Hon. Otirhue, adding that the people are happy to welcome him to “the most peaceful local government area in Delta State”.

Hon. Otirhue stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is concerned about the welfare of workers in the state and assured of the governor's continuous support to local government councils.

While commending Dr. Tidi for his determination to develop Warri South, Mr. Otirhue noted that the worst days are over and local government councils’ chairmen must think outside the box to generate income.

He pointed out that Dr. Okowa is passionate about functional primary healthcare centres, clean environment as well as peaceful, harmonious and secure environment for lives and property.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Warri South Chapter, Mr. Ishmael Ukuejawa said over 500 teachers have retired from service in Warri South for the past 4 years without replacement and wondered why the teachers’ wage bill has not dropped, a situation he described as worrisome.

He appealed to Delta State Government to pay teachers’ November and December salaries in order to get a sigh of relieve and be more confident to support the government.

While commending Dr. Tidi for his support to teachers, the Warri South NUT Chairman appealed to Dr. Okowa to implement promotion of teachers with effect from 2015.
