The ancient town of Koko was agog Friday, December 21 and Saturday 22 as late Pa. Monday Urolemile Jemirieyigbe Tonwe AKA Ometemete was laid to rest at his compound in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State.
Until his demise, late Pa. Tonwe was the Olare-Aja (Oldest Man) of Ureju Community in Warri North Local Government Area.
One of the sons of late Pa. Tonwe, Mr. Henry Eniyan Tonwe, who is the Chairman of Ureju Community, described his late father as “a great man, peace loving and a community builder”.
Eniyan Tonwe added that his father will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family as well as Ureju people, just as he thanked Almighty God and everyone who came from far and near to grace the occasion.
Late Pa. Monday Tonwe was aged 106 and is survived by Wife, Mrs. Victoria Asagba Tonwe, 15 children, 39 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren
The event attracted dignitaries from within Delta and beyond.
