The National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS penultimate weekend organized the 2018 edition of its annual convention in Warri, Delta State to mark their cultural week and celebrate the yuletide in a grand style.
In his welcome address on behalf of the association, the National President, National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, Comrade Esimaje Richard Ejueyitsi showered encomium on the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, Comrade Collins Edema, one of Delta State House of Assembly candidates for Warri South-West Constituency, Mr. Andrew Igban, President of Itsekiri National Youths Council, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro as well as other distinguished Itsekiris for their support towards the growth of NAIS.
He commended members of his executive for their cordial working relationship, saying it has enabled their leadership to move the association to greater heights.
Comrade Ejueyitsi appealed to Itsekiris in positions of authority, both in government and private sector to assist the students’ body through provision of scholarships, educational development materials as well as other forms of support, adding that if much welfare attention is given to Itsekiri students, it will reposition them for better future.
The Itsekiri students’ leader charged Itsekiri students to shun “vote selling” and cast their ballot for candidates who have openly exhibited Itsekiri interest, just as he cautioned his fellow students not to trade off Itsekiri interest for personal gains as they approach the 2019 elections.
He also admonished Itsekiri students to get more involved in students’ unionism, including vying for NADESSTU leadership in their different higher institutions.

Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who graced the occasion, reportedly promised to look into the requests of construction of NAIS Secretariat and procurement of a bus to facilitate logistics of the association.
Fresh Angle International can report that others that graced the six days event that held from December 18 to 23 included: Engr. Bawo Odongharo, Comrade Alero Tenumah, Mr. Austin Leleji, Comrade Frederick Oritseneye, Comrade Nora Norman as well as Mr. Monoyo Edon.
Prominent Itsekiri sons such as Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Ojoye Oma Eyewuoma, Dr. Alex Ideh, Sir Amorighoye S Mene, Engr. Victor Wood, Comrade Collins Edema, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro and Mr. Andrew Igban were presented with NAIS lifetime achievement award for their support to the association, youth empowerment as well as community development.
