Fallout Of Edo LG Poll: CRPP urges losers to accept defeat

Amidst protest  of alleged electoral irregularities during  Edo State local government poll which  held Saturday April 20, the State chapter of Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP)  has urged losers to be magnanimous in defeat just as it added  that the election was to all intent, ‘free, fair and credible’.

Results for  fourteen local government chairmanship position  so far released by Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) showed that the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) swept all.

Chairman of the association comprising 20 political parties, Dr. Samson Isibor who disclosed this at a press briefing  said “though you cannot rule out human infallibility; the little hitches experienced was due to logistic problems devoid of electoral malpractices, such as ballot snatching, stuffing and thuggery”.

Isibor who also doubles as the National Secretary of Accord Party (AP) however advised aggrieved parties to seek redress at the newly inaugurated local government Election Petition Tribunal rather than unleashing mayhem. “There is no need  making  the State ungovernable or cause political tension when the local government tenure is just 3-years.The State government under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole should be commended instead of vilification by the opposition parties for conducting a free and credible election”.
