Barely a month after suspected kidnap gang killed a member of Ughelli Vigilante, suspected cult groups and the vigilantes in Ughelli are battling for supremacy over the soul of Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North local government area, Fresh Angle investigation reveals.
Fresh Angle gathered from impeccable sources that the battle started when the vigilante allegedly shot dead a 28 year old suspected member of a cult group in a jungle where they smoke Indian hemp in the town. The source said the vigilantes immediate rushed the suspected cultist to General Hospital, Ughelli and abandoned him there after it was alleged that the vigilantes forced their way into the hospital.
It was reliably gathered that this development angered members of the suspected cult group who came to carry the lifeless body of their 28 year old member and since then, they've been searching for members of the vigilantees a development that has left a member of the vigilante killed at Otowovdo in Ughelli, while properties worth thousandsof naira were destroyed at "Big Daf", a brothel belonging to a member of the vigilante.
Investigations also reveal that the twist has made some members of the vigilante to relocate for the safety of their lives. It was also gathered that the Ughelli vigilante has adopted other means by working with vigilantes from nearby communities during the day while the cult groups take their turns at night, stealing, raping and maiming innocent citizens when other vigilantes have gone back to their domains.
When Our Senior Correspondent visited the base of the Ughelli vigilante, the Chairman was not around to comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, residents of Ughelli are now living in fear due to the current battle of supremacy between the vigilantes and the cult groups.
