Crisis brews in Warri South DPP, as failed ‘Assembly candidate sponsors vote of no confidence against LGA Chairman

A major political crisis is brewing in DPP, as a son of the late Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo kingdom, Warri, Delta State, Mr. Odjuwu Okumagba is allegedly causing strong division in the Warri South Chapter of Democratic Peoples’ Party, DPP by sponsoring some ward Chairmen in Warri South Constituency II, to pass a vote of no confidence on the local government chairman of the party, Evang. John Owelogba, Fresh Angle can exclusively report.

Those Mr. Okumagba allegedly sponsored are Mr. Pius Onajomo, Igbudu ward, Mr. Pleasure Omologe, Okere ward, Mr. Francis Okperigho, Okumagba 1, Mr. Onojakpor James, Bowen ward and Mr. Otome Dolor, Okumagba 2.

Fresh Angle gathered that before and after the conduct of Delta State House of Assembly election which held 26th April 2011, Mr. Odjuwu Okumagba who felt he was not supported by the Warri South local government executive committee led by Evang. John Owelogba allegedly sponsored the vote of no confidence at a meeting held at his campaign office opposite a commercial bank along Okumagba Avenue in Warri, Delta State.

Fresh Angle can also report that at the meeting, a letter was written with Warri South DPP letter head paper without the consent of the local government party chairman.

It was gathered that some of the 30 persons who were signatories to the said letter did not know the mastermind, while some were visited at their respective homes to append their signatures, others were deceived and lured to append their signatures.

Another source claimed the mastermind of the vote of no confidence fabricated lies as his reasons for his act which outrightly violates the party’s constitution in Article 30 (2).

Fresh Angle gathered that the purported vote of no confidence passed on the party local government chairman, Evang. John Owelogba was written without copying the chairman, executive committee members as well as its steering working committee.

Investigation further reveals that despite the directive of DPP to states and ward executives  that no political pressure group within the party be given recognition.  Mr. Odjuwu Okumagba and his cohorts formed a group known as Urhobo DPP with the aim of working for  Senator Akpo Pius Ewherido who was recently controversially suspended by the state chairman of the party for alleged anti party activities.

The letter suspending political pressure group within the party was written by the national body of the Party 26th February 2013.

Attempts to reach the chairman of Warri South local government Chapter of DPP, Evang. John Owelogba to get his reaction were unsuccessful as his close allies refused to disclose his mobile number.
