Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan has threatened to revoke contract of any contractor not performing on projects awarded to them by the state government.
Dr. Uduaghan handed down the threat at the commissioning of the Government House Road, Asaba, Delta State.
He warned “please step up your jobs if not, we will take your jobs from you.”
The governor, who appealed to Deltans not to destroy government projects within their communities, also averred that the state government will prosecute anyone caught destroying government project.
Earlier, Delta State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, said the 10 road projects that are rehabilitated and constructed in Asaba the State Capital is about 11 kilometres valued at 14 billion naira.
Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, who commended the contractor that handled the Government House road project, called on contractors to be committed to the completion of their jobs in the state.
At Okpanam, Dr. Uduaghan declared that the police will fish out youths who beat up contractors as well as the Site Engineer handling government project at Marble Hill Road in Okpanam, Asaba.
The Governor, who declared that no one is bigger than government, pointed out that youths are supposed to assist the community to develop.
His Royal Majesty, Michael Ogbolu, the Ugani of Okpanam appealed to the state governor to dualize the Okpanam road.
He also appealed to the state government to construct the road leading to Madonna High School, Okpanam.
At Asaba Mixed Primary and Secondary School, Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties and Infrastructures, Barr. (Mrs.) Orezi Esievo said the state government rehabilitated 38 classrooms and built a new two storey building with sporting facilities like football pitch and playground.
Dr. Uduaghan warned that any teacher or persons caught collecting levies from any student will be dealt with because the state government has made education free in the state from Primary to Secondary schools.
Projects commissioned by the state governor are: Government House Road, Okpanam Road and Asaba Mixed Primary and Secondary School.
