NYSC group donates to orphanage



The  Charity Group of National Youth Service Corps in Aguata, Anambra State has donated food items worth N18,000.00 to Nkpologo Motherless Babies Home, Nkpologo.

The items donated by the group comprise sachets of semovita, baskets of beans, baskets of garri, potatoes, tins of tomatoes, onions, crayfish, palm oil, vegetable oil, salt, maggi, toilet soaps, toothpaste, detergent, kerosene along with N2,000.00 for the school fees and graduation party of the orphans.

President of the group, Mr. Kingsley Nnabuike Aneke, while speaking with Fresh Angle Correspondent, stated that the purpose of their visit to the orphanage was to see the structure of the building as well as to find out their pressing needs and help them where possible. He said, "we are here to see the orphanage, survey the dilapidated building, give assistance to your pressing needs and do anything in our capacity."

Mr. Aneke disclosed that during his interaction with the matron of the home, Mrs. Christiana Ibe, he found out that there are thirteen children in the home, six belonging to the matron.

He added that one of the orphans, Miss Gloria Ikemba, is speech and hearing impaired yet she can't attend the special school in Umuchu due to the orphanage inability to pay her fees as well as its distance to the school.


The president and other members of charity group told the matron to find out the amount of the school fees and what it would cost for Gloria to resume in the special school, promising to fund her education.
 He revealed that in their subsequent visit that they will take bags of cement to fix the crack in the wall of the orphanage and they would change the old window pane to prevent cold and mosquitoes from entering the home.

A member of the group, Mr. Bright Udoh said he was not impressed with what he saw in the home.
Those who visited the orphanage were the President of Charity group, Kingsley Nnabuike Aneke, the Vice President- Linda Nwaeze, General Secretary- Lydia Akpobaro, Financial Secretary- Patience Ubi Onen, Treasurer- Deborah Okah Abeng, PRO- Tijani Shehu, Bright Udoh, Ismaila Tajudeen, Funmilayo Ajayi, Angela Ojeah, Oigbochie Annette and Kingsley Inegbe.
