A coalition of graduates from oil
producing communities in Delta State under the aegis of Delta State Oil Producing
Communities’ Graduates Association, DESOPOGA have commended Delta State governor,
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for arresting the fresh crisis in Warri North local government
that recently threatened the state government peace and security agenda.
According to DESOPOGA, the manner
with which governor Uduaghan quickly intervened and co-ordinated all stakeholders, particularly leaders of Ijaw
and Itsekiri extraction as well as security agencies to nip the fresh violence
on the bud is a testament of his savvy in crises
management as well as his in-depth
knowledge of happenings in the coastal communities.
In a statement signed by President
and Secretary of DESOPOGA, Comrade Agbefe Sebastine and Comrade Progress Omo-Agege,
they strongly appealed to the Delta State government and the Niger-Delta
Ministry to work out modalities towards the rebuilding of the burnt communities
to ameliorate the sufferings of the displaced inhabitants of the communities.
While declaring that the recent
attacks has no ethnic colouration, DESOPOGA commended the media for not reporting the
issue out of proportion and pleaded with the appropriate authorities to
apprehend perpetrators of the criminal act to avert a reoccurrence.
