Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole has described Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as one of the shining lights of good governance and a true democrat in Nigeria, Our Kogi State Correspondent reports.
The Speaker made the declaration while answering questions from Journalists in Abuja during a two- day workshop organized by the Presidential Implementation Committee on Autonomy for States’ Legislatures and Judiciary.
According to him, Kogi State is one of the first states that passed the bill establishing the State House of Assembly Service Commission, which was promptly assented to by Governor Yahaya Bello.
He said the governor did not only sign the bill into law, but went ahead to nominate members to the commission and “the highly experienced members have been inaugurated for more than six months. I can tell you that our Governor is a true democrat, that believes in the principles of separation of powers, hence his cooperation with and support for the autonomy of both the Judiciary and the Legislature”.
The lawmaker said the cordial relationship between the executive, legislature and other arms of government in the state, was not without his concerted efforts to reposition governance in the state.
While stating that the Bello administration has performed creditably well in some critical sectors like security, education, infrastructural development, civil service reforms, Hon. Kolawole opined that Governor Bello’s reelection would be smooth sailing.
