Survey on Internet Usage: NGOs target one million secondary school students in Nigeria


 

Two Non-Governmental Organizations, Bridge to Success Life Initiative and Firstborn Mandate International, have begun a student empowerment project that seeks to give internet access to one million secondary school students across Nigeria.

The programme tagged, “Project Internet Access”, will explore, “how the internet is being used in the education sector in Nigeria and how it can be harnessed to address the pressing needs of the education sector within the framework of the Global Education Agenda (the Sustainable Development Goal 4) adopted by the United Nations.

Fresh Angle International reliably gathered that the pilot project will take off with select-secondary schools in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, after which the template will be used to organize the survey in other parts of Nigeria.

According to a proposal addressed to the Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South local Government Area in Delta State, Mr. S.N Onyenenue, the project is dedicated to the, “empowerment of students in secondary schools for better life outcomes in career and life in general”.

The proposal which had the imprimaturs of Charles Adimah, Project Manager of Bridge to Success Life Initiative and Ohimai Abraham, President of Firstborn Mandate International, noted that the survey, “is a key strategy to combating youth illiteracy and restiveness”.

The Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South Local Government Area, Mr. S.N Onyenenue, in a swift response to the proposal of the NGOs, wrote to the Principals of Best Model School,  Dom-Domingos College and Hussey College, all in Warri, imploring the school managements to accord Bridge to Success Life Initiative and Firstborn Mandate International the necessary co-operation, to enable them carryout the survey.
