As President Muhammadu Buhari begins his second term in earnest, alongside 29 re-elected/elected Governors, the expectations are high from Nigerians and it must be emphasized that the time for politicking is over.
The challenge for now is how to provide people-driven governance to Nigerians, irrespective of political party affiliation or ethno-religious divides.
The problems confronting Nigerians daily are multifaceted, requiring urgent and pragmatic steps to tackle by the Federal, State and even Local Governments.
Without mincing words, insecurity, inadequate/decaying infrastructures, near zero power supply, the imperative of diversifying the economy, providing enabling environment for job/wealth creation and the need to streamline local government as a third tier of government, with a view to making positive impact at the grassroots, are core issues that should be prioritized by the Federal as well as State Governments as they commence the new political dispensation.
The thrust of this piece is that the average Nigerian wants to positively feel governance and desire to live in a country they can proudly call their own, no matter their tribe, religion or political sympathy.
