Oranyan Festival has diversified into issues geared towards Nation Building -Bishop Ladigbolu
Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu

The Coordinator of Oranyan Festival Committee, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, says the Oranyan Festival from its inception has not only focused on cultural concerns, but diversified into giving systematic attention to significant themes, relevant to balanced nation building and informed society.

Our Oyo State Correspondent reports that Archbishop Ladigbolu gave the explanation Monday September 9, at the Mini-Conference Hall in the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, during this year’s Oranyan Festival International Press Conference.

Ladigbolu further explained that in recent years, the festival committee beamed its searchlight on issues of community health, job creation and entrepreneurial skill acquisition.

“The focus of our summit of Town Hall meeting this year is the imperatives of security for the socio-cultural and economic development of the Yoruba community. Our objectives are as follows: To make Oranyan Festival a calendered culture/tourism documented by both Federal and State Governments’ Cultural and Tourism Ministries, develop the dynamic values of the Yoruba cultural heritage among the youth and people of all ages, promote social cohesion and human development, encouraging innovation across the full spectrum of cultural heritage, through competitions in arts and crafts, traditional games, dance and music, cinematography, etc among young Nigerians and  to increase access and participation of industries in the sponsorship and promotion of cultural festival, museums and archives”, he stated.

Ladigbolu emphasized, “we also plan to mount the usual Arts and Crafts Exhibition as well as present the finals of the Yoruba Quiz Competition among secondary schools. The finals of Ayoo Olopon and Dundun Dance Competition will also come up during the week-long celebration.

Finally let me express our deepest sympathy to the families of all those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident that tragically and abruptly terminated last year’s grand finale”.
