While assuring that the state government in collaboration with Warri South-West local Government Council, will invest more in healthcare delivery, Hon. Taiye Tuoyo, stated that the health insurance scheme and provision of medical facilities in the health centres, cut across rural and urban communities in the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The Director- General/Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Ben Nkechika, said they will ensure the health centre at Naifor Community is well equipped, and health personel employed, so that primary health care delivery will be available 24 hours daily in the riverine community.
He hinted that workers in the health centre, will be drawn from the host community, because, “government wants the project to be self sustaining”.
While noting that with N7,000 a year, people can enjoy the healthcare service, Dr. Nkechika, explained that the services are free for children (0-5) years, pregnant women and the aged.
Responding, the Naifor Community Chairman, Mr. Anthony Youbai, welcomed the delegation from Asaba and appreciated government for the initiative, promising that the community will take care of the health care facility.
